Weaving Lives Together
Wake pavilion at
Tait Riverfront Community Park
June to September, 2023
a community engagement project
involving photograph, gelli printing and paper weaving.

The project consisted of 3 workshops with children from Tait Elementary School and 5 workshops open to the community, lead by
artist Mariana Frochtengarten. Participants worked with photographs of the park, gelli print, writing, and paper weaving. Everyone could take an art work home and also choose some of their creative expressions to leave at the park to be used by other members of the community in the next workshop. That way, a visual dialogue between members of the community was established as the project developed. By the end of the workshops, the work created by the community was thoughtful arranged as a quilt by artists Mariana Frochtengarten and Monica Hetti, becoming a vinyl that now covers the metal trunk of the Wake pav
ilion at Tait River Community Park..
